The Whole Foods Diet Cookbook Shows That Healthy Food Can Be Exciting

As much as I want to cook healthy, nutrient-rich food, I find that some health food cookbooks have such plain recipes that do nothing to enliven the ingredients or dishes. Who wants that?! So once I find a book that take our health into consideration while simultaneous offering tantalizing recipes, I jump with joy and then spread the word amongst my friends and fellow cooks.

One of these great finds is the Whole Foods Diet Cookbook: 200 Recipes for Opimal Health by Ivy Ingram Larson & Andrew Larson, MD. You get recipes that include ingredients "in their natural, unrefined, unprocessed state," that are also "high in antioxidants, phytochemicals, and essential fats and oils, and low in saturated fats and sugar."So no matter where you flip to in the book - even the desserts! - and you can be certain that you're providing you and your family with nutricious  meals and snacks. Even if it sounds too good to be true, such as Chile-Studded Cheesy Polenta Bread, Strawberry-Lemon Chill Cake and Made-From-Scratch Manicotti Crepes.

There is a huge section at the front, filling you in on nutricious ingredients and how to prepare them, a fabulous section on curing food cravings and hunger pangs the healthy way and another on how to indulge in sweet nothings guilt free.

Large orange sections break things down for you so that brunch dishes are all together, as are one-dish wonders and really great party and occasion menus.

This is one of the few healthy cooks you'll own that you actually enjoy and use over and over again.
