See Why I Made the Switch to Three Farmers Camelina Oil

Don't feel bad if you haven't heard of camelina oil before. I hadn't until recently and I'm in the food business.

It is made from an ancient grain - camelina sativa - that originated in Northern Europe and parts of Central Asia. It was commonly used way back when (up to the 16th century) but fell out of vogue" due to the introduction of alternative oils and interestingly enough, due to its high level of unsaturated fat which made it too difficult to hydrogenate to produce margarine."

What's amazing  is that this ancient grain has retained its natural flavour and nutritional properties, despite the passing of time. And as you know, all of the ancient grains - quinoa, spelt, etc. - are insanely good for you. Add one of these to your diet and you'll notice a difference right away.

Three Farmer Camelina Oils are made by a small group of second and third generation Saskatchewan farmers, so you're getting hand-crafted oils that are unique, have a wonderful history, are good for you and are made in Canada.

Set it next to your current oils and you'll see why this one's vastly superior: it's rich in both omega-3 and -6 fatty acids and vitamin E (that's a first) and you don't have to save it just for salad dressings - go ahead and cook with it too! I absolutely love the clean feel it has (none of that thick cloying mouthfeel that you get with other oils), yet it infuses your food with such a wonderful flavour - a slight nuttiness that is never heavy or overpowering. The combination of such a quality grain mixed with the cold-pressed technique delivers the most amazing ingredient. It's a pantry necessity.

Ooh, and the colour - here's a picture I took of searing pork for a stew in Three Farmers Camelina Oil. It doesn't show it off as well as I'd like - just imagine it a more vibrant yellow!

I also made a lovely vinaigrette with it that's one of the best I've ever had. It just has this beautifully smooth texture that isn't oily, if you can imagine it. And made sweet potato fries one night - I sliced up two and tossed them with the oil, added a little salt, pepper and herbs - and they were fantastic. Even Scott noticed the difference (next time, I'm going to have to make at least twice as much).

And you must also get the Roasted Garlic & Chili Infused Camelina Oil and Roasted Onion & Basil Infused Camelina Oil. Just a little drizzle of these over simple sides like sauteed kale, broiled mushrooms, green beans, chickpea salad... oh my.

God, once you've had all the Three Farmers Camelina Oils, you'll wonder how you survived without it all of this time. I can't wait to use it for my homemade pesto and other dishes.

Stock your pantry with Three Farmers Camelina Oils right now and have the best food of your life.
